About

An elegant Yorkshire hotel set in acres of landscaped grounds, in the village of Scalby on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. This stunning Gothic mansion with uninterrupted views across the Yorkshire countryside is arguably the best of all the Scarborough Hotels and just a short drive from the Yorkshire Heritage coast. Offering first class accommodation the hotel is home to one of the best restaurants in Scarborough "1881" serving delicious contemporary British cuisine in classic surroundings. For your short break or romantic weekend Wrea Head Hall offers you a relaxed and enjoyable stay in a perfect location to explore North Yorkshire and its attractions.

Built in 1881 as a private home for the Ellis family, the mansion sits on an elevated piece of land known as Wrea Head Rigg from which the house gets its name. Now a much loved hotel, Wrea Head Hall still retains the feeling of an historic country house. You will be pleased to find that all the hotel rooms are contained within the original building. The mansion is built of honey coloured stone in the romantic Gothic style, adorned with gargoyles and a bell tower.

As you enter the Mansion through the stone porch you are greeted by the smell of polished oak panelling that is a major feature of the public rooms. On passing reception, cleverly hidden within an old courtyard and reached through a mullion window, you turn and arrive in the main hall.
